The mission-capacity gap

Your mission is bigger than your capacity. AI is how that finally changes

Picture a farmer with a 1,000 acres. With ancient tools, the crew works 50. Maybe 70. With tractors, the same crew covers a few hundred. The land didn't change. The tools did.

Every nonprofit is in this exact position. Your mission field is bigger than the team working it, and the tools haven't caught up. Until now. AI is the tractor. The same humans, doing the same work they came here to do, with operational AI alongside them to give exponential impact.

For-profits use AI to replace the team,
because the motive is profit.

Nonprofits use AI to multiply the team,
because the motive is mission.

When AI is powering your org, you achieve more of your mission by the people who came here to do it.

What a time to be alive.

WHAT THIS IS

Shift your culture, multiply your mission

Mission Command is the boutique 1:1 partnership where If Possible becomes your nonprofit's fractional Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer. It starts with a single point of contact at the top of your team. It expands into a council of your leaders. It cascades out to your department heads, and then to your whole team. The whole org moves outward from one center, like a ripple.

All led by the If Possible team that has helped 100+ nonprofits raise $200M+ over 10+ years at the intersection of nonprofit fundraising and technology.

  • Own the AI strategy across your org
  • Build AI Teammates, AI Systems, and the Mission Brain around your real campaigns, your real donors, your real team
  • Drive the culture shift across every department so the whole team is moving as one
The fit

Boutique AI partnership for nonprofits with real complexity

AI deployment across a whole nonprofit is a thousand decisions deep. The architecture has to fit your org. The training has to fit your team. The systems have to fit your campaigns. Most orgs ready to implement AI don't have the expertise or capacity on staff to drive it. That's what we're for.

Mission Command is for nonprofits that:

  • Have real complexity across multiple departments, locations, or teams
  • Are ready to move with an outside expert driving the AI strategy
  • Need a cultural shift, not just a simple tool rollout
  • Need a partner who knows what they're doing
  • Have leadership ready to invest in real operational change

Mission Command isn't the right fit when:

  • You want to figure AI out at your own pace (start with Mission Ready)
  • You want to learn alongside other nonprofit leaders (start with Mission Multiplier)
  • You aren't ready for an outside expert at the leadership table
  • You want a one-off project, not a partnership
  • Your leadership team isn't aligned on AI yet
How we work together

Everyone moving as one

The real magic of implementing AI isn't AI. It's people, strategy, momentum, and alignment.

  1. Your AI Champion

We find the one person inside your org who runs point with us. The AI Champion is our single contact for everything. We meet with them weekly. They become the human face of the AI shift inside the org.

  2. Your AI Council

A small group of leaders we convene regularly to set direction, unblock decisions, and keep the strategy aligned to the mission. The AI Council is where the cultural shift gets shaped before it hits the rest of the org.

  3. Your department heads

Regular check-ins with the leaders of every department touched by the work. Their work, their teams, their results. We make sure what's being built fits the people running it.

  4. Your whole team

Org-wide teaching, training, and live demos on a regular cadence so your whole team is moving in step. Nobody will be left wondering what's coming and when the systems land, your humans are ready to use them.

The working sessions

Built around your real work

This is a working partnership. We're inside your real campaigns, your real donors, your real challenges. We dream up custom AI solutions with your team in real time.

What every session includes

Prep, build, ship, train, repeat

Every working session is focused on the week's strategic goals to achieve something practical and incredible.

  • A pre-call prep pack sent in advance so your team comes in ready to work
  • A live working session with your Champion, your Council, or your department leads, depending on the week's focus
  • Custom next-step deliverables sent the same day, scoped to the work that was just done
  • Regular org-wide training cadences so the broader team is moving with the build
Who's behind the work

The team whose names are on the company

When you sign Mission Command, one of us sets the strategy and stays close to every part of the work. Everything that flows from this partnership has our stamp on it. The team behind us is exceptional, and they carry the work forward. The strategic direction starts with us, every time.

When nonprofits say AI changed everything, this is what they mean

Scott and Colleen helped us figure out not only our AI systems but also how our organization should work… When you pair a well-functioning org and the power of AI, some pretty incredible things happen. We couldn't have done it without them.

FAQ

What nonprofits ask before they say yes

What if our team has never used AI before?

That's normal. Most orgs we partner with are in exactly that spot. The AI Champion process is designed to bring your team along from wherever they're starting. You don't need to be technical to lead this inside your org. You need to care about the mission. We handle the rest.

How is this different from Mission Multiplier?

Mission Multiplier is the 12-week cohort where you build alongside other nonprofit leaders. Mission Command is the 1:1 partnership built around your specific org, your real campaigns, your real teams. Mission Multiplier is built for the leader inside your org who wants to lead the build. Mission Command is for the larger org that needs a true cultural shift across every department. As your fractional Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer, we facilitate that shift in a way a cohort can't.

What does our team need to run the tools you recommend?

Claude is the center of the stack, and we want your team on the Claude desktop app, not the browser version, because that's where Cowork lives. Each person needs a Mac on macOS 11 or newer, or a PC on Windows 10 or newer, at least 8 GB of RAM (16 recommended), and a paid Claude plan. Anthropic keeps current requirements and download links here. Plan on roughly $50–100 per user per month on top of what you already pay. If your organization already has an enterprise AI license through IT, check with your director before adding separate subscriptions. We always recommend the best tools for the job.

Do we own what gets built?

Yes. Every AI Teammate, every AI System, every Mission Brain and knowledge center we help your team develop is yours. Owned by your org. Built around your data, your voice, your campaigns. You don't rent any of it from us.

Who from our org needs to be in the working sessions?

Your AI Champion is in most sessions. Your AI Council joins on a weekly cadence. Department heads cycle in on a regular rhythm based on which department's work is being built that week. We handle the scheduling so you don't have to.

What if our org has compliance or data privacy concerns?

We've worked with orgs across regulated sectors. We help your AI Champion and your Council set the policies, choose the tools, and design the data handling that fits your compliance environment. Your AI Policy gets built as part of the work.

Do you work with us in person?

We work with nonprofits across the country, primarily over Zoom. We've designed Mission Command to deliver every part of the partnership remotely without losing the boutique feel. When it makes sense to be in person for a board moment, a launch, or a strategic offsite, we'll travel.

What if our staff turns over during the partnership?

The Mission Brain captures your org's voice, methodology, and institutional knowledge in a way that survives turnover. New staff onboard faster into a Mission Command org because the systems are already running and the knowledge is already structured. Turnover hurts less when the brain stays.

Can we extend the partnership?

Yes. Renewals are common, and the work deepens over time.

How fast can we start?

Depends on capacity. We take on a small number of partnerships at a time so each one gets real focus. Schedule a time to talk and we'll tell you exactly what's open.

What if AI changes again tomorrow?

It will. That's part of what we do for you. We stay on top of the tooling so your team doesn't have to. When the landscape shifts, we shift the build with you.

Why this matters

The cultural shift that changes everything

When large nonprofits shift into the artificial intelligence era, it largely becomes a culture challenge within the organization. It's about everybody walking in lockstep to deploy the right tools with the right strategy to make the deepest impact. Implementing AI inside a $5M to $50M org means countless decisions made by dozens of people across multiple departments must line up. The whole team has to move as one.

When that shift happens, the work changes too.

  • Your team stops dreading AI and starts asking what else it can do
  • Grantwriters see the case for support come together in a morning
  • Development directors get their strategy time back
  • Program leaders push their thinking further, faster
  • The board sees the org doing more, raising more, dreaming bigger

And underneath all of it:

  • The mission is impacted.
  • The capacity multiplies.
  • The team stays.
  • The culture transforms.

This is what Mission Command is built for: The orgs ready to lead the cultural change and make the biggest impact on their mission they've ever had the chance at.
